I'd like to take some courses at the university level. I have the resources to do so. It's part of my benefits package.
I just have absolutely NO clue what I want to take...I don't know what I want to be when I grow up...
And frankly, it terrifies me - the looming failure. (how's that for insecurity...lol)
I talked to MJ about it not long ago and his advice was to wait. There are things I have to do, to get my life in order and my ducks in a row before I tackle such a monumental undertaking.

I agree that there's not much point in taking classes just to take classes, particularly if life is complicated right now. I worked at Virginia Tech for over 11 years and could have earned a graduate degree or two in that time--if I'd only known what I wanted to do. I took only 2 classes the whole time I worked there! I almost gave graduate school a try once, but there wasn't really anything I wanted to do, because, like you said, I didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I said I wouldn't go back to school unless I knew what I really wanted to do and was willing to do the work.
But, if you don't know what you want to be when you grow up, you can take classes to find out. Are there subjects that interested you in high school, or things that you always wanted to study but never had the chance? Or, you can just start looking through the course schedules when they come out. Eventually, one of these terms, you'll find something that sounds interesting.
And on the other other hand, there's no reason to take classes if you don't want to! That's one of the great things about being a grown-up!
